No One Takes Me To The River Anymore
Each moment spent noticing the subtleties is another second stolen
So I can’t forget, because attention is all I have
Even your hurt is fleeting,
You rushing out is locked into my being like a current beats against the shore
No one takes me to the river anymore
I promise to not shatter this time
I’ve learned to love the rain so this life would have meaning
If I don’t adore gray skies, I’m barely alive
And I won’t get to swim in water
Without thoughts, under by the rocks,
Brushing by mysteries, feeling only motion
This gives purpose to the infliction of voices
What we have in common still and all that’s left
Dues to the same source, the same endings
I understand your love now
You nearly froze to death that winter just to feel revived
I watched you let ice creep into limb while you tried to forget your age
But we don’t believe in the same time
You are a soul spinning around itself
You are endlessly remembering your nights and forgetting to look upwards
You will be found in the recollection of dreams forever
A love that circles in and out, in and out to a mouth at sea
